Two Arrested on Drug Charges in Plymouth

 
 

A pair of Winamac residents were arrested Tuesday afternoon when narcotics were allegedly found in their speeding vehicle.

A Plymouth Police Department officer pulled over a car driven by 41-year-old Christopher Fields at the intersection of Cook Street and Oak Drive in Plymouth. Marshall County K9 Arras was called  to the scene where the dog reportedly indicated the presence of narcotics. Methamphetamine and synthetic marijuana were found in the car, according to a news release.

Fields Trial Continued; Singleton to Be Sentenced Today

The bench trial for Christopher Fields, accused of being in possession of oxycodone, marijuana, and a hypodermic needle in November, has been continued after it was originally scheduled for Tuesday. He will reappear for a status hearing at a later date. Fields was arrested in November and charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance as Class D felonies, as well as Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia as Class A misdemeanors.

Meanwhile, Robert Singleton, Jr. will appear for a sentencing hearing this morning in the Starke Circuit Court following his conviction of Dealing in Methamphetamine as a Class B felony, and Possession of Precursors, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance as Class D felonies. Singleton was found guilty of manufacturing methamphetamine in the presence of two young children.

Singleton will receive his sentence at 9:30 a.m.

Three Men Plead Not Guilty In Starke Circuit Court

Three initial hearings were heard in the Starke Circuit Court this week for men accused of a variety of crimes, including Dealing in Cocaine, Domestic Battery, and various Possession Charges.

Matthew Norem pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him, including Dealing in Cocaine or a Narcotic as a Class A felony and Trafficking with an Inmate as a Class C felony. Norem is accused of knowingly possessing at least three grams of heroin in his underwear at the Starke County Jail when he was arrested in December.

Winamac Man Arrested On Multiple Possession Charges

A Winamac man was arrested in Knox on Friday after police found him in possession of controlled substances.

Police were called to a bar in downtown Knox after a call was received about a theft. The victim told police that a witness could lead police to the suspect and they found the suspect, Christopher Fields, in a vehicle with a woman. Police asked both subjects for their identification and it was learned that Fields had two active arrest warrants through Pulaski County.
