While next month’s Fall Bash has been canceled, the City of Knox is already busy rescheduling many of the festivities for next July. Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council last week that the city didn’t really have an option. “There’s no way we could meet any of the conditions set forth to have a gathering over 250 down there, so we just went ahead and canceled it,” he explained.

The Town of Hamlet will once again contribute to the Knox fireworks display. The town council Wednesday approved a $150 donation for this year’s fireworks, according to Hamlet Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts. That amount is unchanged from last year.
The first Knox Event Planning Committee meeting of the year will be held this week.
At Tuesday night’s city council meeting, Mayor Dennis Estok announced that the committee will meet to discuss some of the different events scheduled for later this year including movies in the park, community concerts and the fireworks show.
The Mayor encouraged all past volunteers to attend, as well as any other residents interested in providing a helping hand. Continue reading
