Monday is Columbus Day; Plan Accordingly
Columbus Day is celebrated Monday in honor of Christopher Columbus’ arrival in America in 1492. More than 500 years later, that means a day off for some and business as usual for others. Mail will not be delivered today, as it is a postal holiday. State offices are also closed, including the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch in Knox. County offices in Starke, Pulaski and Marshall Counties are all open. So are the municipal offices in North Judson, Plymouth, Winamac and Medaryville. The Knox City Hall is closed today. Banks are generally closed on Columbus Day as well, but you may want to check with your financial institution to be sure.
Pulaski County Historical Society to Host Columbus Day Event
The Pulaski County Historical Society will host a Columbus Day event on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8 p.m. to midnight ET at the Winamac VFW.
The event will feature the musical stylings of the Eel River Band of Logansport who perform at a variety of events in the Pulaski County area.
