The Culver School Corporation is playing catch-up due to the number of weather related school delays and cancellations.
It was announced earlier this month that Culver Schools is altering the official calendar through the second Friday in May. The changes stem from a school closing on March 3rd of this year due to icy conditions.

The Town of Culver will be looking to make plans for the future during a meeting this evening.
Several of the Town’s public bodies continue developing Culver’s Comprehensive Plan. The document is typically used as a guide for the growth of a community. It can cover topics ranging from utilities and infrastructure projects to zoning and development.
The Culver Town Council held a Public Hearing for two businesses looking to have a change in zoning.
During Tuesday night’s meeting the Town, and members of the public, were able to ask questions about the changes. Earlier this year, the Culver Plan Commission recommended a zoning change to the Town Council to allow Papa’s Pizza to expand its kitchen and some of its seating.

The Culver Town Council has a decision to make regarding public health, but decided to postpone providing direction until more council members were present.
The Town is in the process of designing a new water treatment facility. At this point in the design, engineers are requesting council input on whether the Town will use fluoride in the water treatment process.

At their school board meeting this week, members approved the Superintendent’s request to discontinue certain services with the JESSE cooperative. JESSE includes about 9 schools working together on certain services.

A developer has expressed interest in constructing several condominiums – to be called Harbor Landing. That name may change in the future. The initial proposal called for the development of the condos along State Road 10 with the possibility of commercial space.

The Culver Plan Commission revisited the possible annexation of land to the northwest of the Town, last night.
According to the discussion, the Plan Commission considered the possibility of bringing land between State Roads 10 and 17 under the Town’s limits up until September of last year.

During last night’s Culver School Board meeting, members reviewed information about textbook rental fees. Culver has not used a collection agency in the past, but officials say they intend to make the switch.

A Culver man turned himself into Plymouth Police on Monday after he was accused of sexual contact with a minor several months ago.
Plymouth police say they received a phone call from 43-year-old Joey Maxon who stated he would be waiting for officers at the Wal-Mart in Plymouth. Maxon had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of Pulaski County. He was taken into custody.

Plans for a new commercial and residential development in Culver will continue tonight.
The initial proposal called for the construction of condominiums along state road 10 with a bit of commercial space to complement the land. The developer came to the Culver Plan Commission in January.

Students were on lockdown for a short time at Culver High School on Monday.
Staff at the school, along with authorities, conducted a routine sweep of the building to check for any illicit substances. The school corporation has been conducting the sweeps for some time.

Preliminary discussions are scheduled for Tuesday’s Plan Commission meeting that would involve extending Culver’s town limits to the intersection of state road 10 and state road 17. That area currently lies northwest of Culver.

Discussions continued during a work session meeting, yesterday. The EMS Department has experienced difficulty attracting and retaining volunteers.

At their previous work session, the Town Council considered adequate salaries for possibly hiring a full-time director for the department. Currently, the EMS Department is reliant on volunteers, but discussions have centered on reshaping the department to possibly pay staff wages commensurate with their experience.
