INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana 211 is now accepting damage reports for Starke County residents, in addition to Newton County residents, in relation to the March 10, 2026, severe storm.
A morning house fire near Wanatah led to extensive smoke and fire damage in the structure’s attic.
An iconic business attraction has been repaired.
Richard’s of Toto has announced that its 30 foot tall “Muffler Man” sculpture of a Native American has seen one of the arms put back into place. A new coat of paint has also been applied.
An area general merchandise and surplus store says one of its iconic business draws has been vandalized.
Richard’s of Toto says that on the night of July 29th, video evidence seems to indicate that two individuals climbed the pedestal of its “Muffler Man” sculpture – a Native American fiberglass statue standing about 30 feet tall – and broke the arm. The sculpture is placed in front of the business.

Following weekend storms in Starke County, the clean-up process will now begin.
Officials with the National Weather Service were able to confirm an EF-1 Tornado touched down in western Starke County. Wind speeds were estimated at a maximum of 95 miles per hour.
