During the Eastern Pulaski School Board meeting Monday evening, the board decided without any opposition to refinance the school’s pension bonds. Back in 2006, the state allowed schools to take out bonds to pay off their pension obligations, that money still needs to be repaid. With this resolution, the school will be taking advantage of lower interest rates to reduce the cost and still pay the bonds off in the same amount of time. Continue reading
Enrollment at the Eastern Pulaski School Corporation is down slightly over this time last year. The official student count turned in to the state last month is 1,231.5. Superintendent Dan Foster says that’s a decline of 1.5 students. Continue reading
Representatives from Gibraltar Design presented updates in the building project to the Eastern Pulaski School Board Monday night. The project includes upgrades to the elementary, middle and high schools. Main entrances will be secured, restrooms updated, classrooms improved including the change of chalkboards to marker boards and replacing windows. Continue reading
According to Superintendent Dan Foster, six days have been missed and it appears that one day will need to be added to the end of the school year in order to make up all of the days missed. One missed day was made up in a built-in snow day in January while one will be made up in a built-in snow day scheduled yet this month and another one in April. Two days were previously waived by the State.
The board members will discuss this issue, summer school classes, the adoption of the calendar year budget, and the purchase of iPads and cases during their meeting Wednesday in the Distance Learning Lab.
After being chosen as the new superintendent at Eastern Pulaski Schools earlier this month, Dan Foster said he’s settling back into the corporation nicely, aided by the fact that he was previously an administrator at the corporation for three years. He said there are still some familiar faces at the schools.
“I was here for three years, so I do know a lot of the people. A lot of them have stopped in, just said, ‘Hi,’ ‘Good to see you back,’ that kind of stuff, but in the mornings I’ve tried to take some time and go up through the buildings and see people and walk through and see kids in classes and what’s going on,” he said.
“I was a high school band director at Fountain Central in Veedersburg, Indiana and then I came to Eastern Pulaski as the assistant principal at the high school in 2004,” said Foster. I spent three years here and then went to Caston High School for one year as the Junior/Senior high principal and I’ve been there for the last five years as superintendent. I did my undergraduate at Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio, my Master’s in music at Miami University in Ohio and all of my administrative work was at Indiana State.”
