The Culver School Corporation will be considering RIF notices in the near future.
During tonight’s school board meeting, members will consider a resolution for the Reduction in Force. Removing positions from the books is often an annual process that allows the school corporation to bridge gaps in funding from the state or property tax levy.
The Crossing has only been operating for about one year, but according to their students, there have been some major accomplishments.
A spring celebration was held in Knox at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center on Thursday night. The gathering allows the alternative education school to showcase what students have been working to accomplish in their academic and personal lives.

Work continues on the campus of Ancilla College.
The two-year liberal arts school is in the process of constructing a residence hall for freshman students. The building is expected to be finalized before the fall semester begins in August.

The second annual event allows children and their parents to explore the various pre-school options available in Starke County. Booths will be available to distribute information to parents. Among those participating is IU Health Starke Hospital.

Ancilla College will be giving prospective students some time to access their campus.
The Catholic based liberal arts school periodically hosts “Access Ancilla” Days. It’s designated as an open house to offer tours to interested students.
The Oregon-Davis School Board will continue implementing development tools in the classroom.
Monday night’s school board meeting saw the Board of Education take action to approve strategies from Five Star Education Solutions. The company offers instruction and targeted development for students, but also offers professional development and technology assistance to teachers.

The second round of the ISTEP test will be administered starting next week in area schools.
Students took the first portion of the test in March of this year – which covers English, Math, and for some students: Science and Social Studies. ISTEP is used to help measure student performance in a handful of subject areas.

During Monday night’s School Board meeting, Eastern Pulaski board members considered an Early Entrance/Developmental Kindergarten program. The area has an underserved population of children who may need additional socialization skills.

As part of her senior service project, Olivia Sever – who attends Culver Academies – is organizing mammogram health screenings at the school. Mammograms are often used in the detection of breast cancer.

Police were called to the area of 1 Redskin Trail around 7:45 Tuesday morning over reports of a man making threats to harm individuals at Knox Community High School.

The Starke County Youth Club’s 8th Annual RadioThon will be held May 1st. The organization – which launched in 2001 – provides a range of activities, including healthy eating and possibly taking students on field trips.
