Ancilla College Training Leaders for Life
Ancilla College students have an opportunity to hone their life skills through the Leaders for Life Program. Director of Student Events and Activities Ericka Taylor-Joseph says community and business leaders interact with the students during the 10-week program to help them develop skills in various areas. The Leaders for Life Program is open to both tradition and non-traditional students. Starke County Relay for Life Gets Under Way Today
Starke County’s annual Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society gets under way today at noon at the Hamlet Fairgrounds. Organizers of the 18-hour event hope to raise $67,000 this year. Ericka Taylor-Joseph is in charge of fundraising. She says Starke County’s event consistently raises more money than those held in larger communities. Teams range in size from just a few members to 30 or more. Taylor-Joseph says while organizers would like each team to have a participant on the track at all times, it’s not a requirement. Continue reading
Starke County Relay for Life Celebrates “Holidays of Hope”
Organizers of the annual Starke County Relay for Life hope to raise $67,000 for the American Cancer Society during this year’s event. It starts tomorrow at noon at the Hamlet Fairgrounds and continues until 6 a.m. Sunday. Fundraising chair Ericka Taylor-Joseph says all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society to help cancer patients in need.
“It may be getting them back and forth to their treatments. It may be buying a wig for somebody who has lost their hair. Support services – Hope Lodge if they have long-term treatments that they need to have, they can stay in the Hope Lodge with their families. It also goes to cancer research. Besides the United States government, the American Cancer Society is the number one fundraiser for cancer research in America,” she said. Continue reading
Relay for Life of Starke County Looking for Volunteers
With the Relay for Life of Starke County still in the planning phase, the organization is looking for volunteers interested in helping plan this year’s event. Ericka Taylor-Joseph said there are several positions open ranging from those with minimal time commitments to others with more.
Plans Under Way for 2014 Starke County Relay for Life
Starke County Relay for Life organizers have set Saturday, June 21 as the date for this year’s annual American Cancer Society fundraiser. Chair Ericka Taylor-Joseph says this year’s theme is “Holidays of Hope.”
“We’re going to celebrate every holiday that we can with a different activity, so it’s a little bit different than we’ve had in the past. We’re going to have an Easter egg hunt, trick-or-treating for Halloween, and those types of things. We’re pretty excited that we’ll have a lot of family-friendly activities,” said Taylor-Joseph.
Ancilla College Hires Two New Admissions Staff
Ancilla College is proud to welcome two long-time local education professionals as part of their new marketing and admissions efforts.
Kelly Manning and Ericka Taylor-Joseph, both Starke County residents, are now part of Ancilla’s Admission Department as admissions counselors. Both have extensive connections to regional schools and community organizations.
