Face masks still have to be worn in Winamac businesses, and those not doing so could still be charged with a Class B misdemeanor. The Winamac Town Council held an emergency meeting Wednesday to try to clarify the issue. The council has rescinded its own order requiring the use of face masks, but Pulaski County’s order remains in effect, even within the town limits.

Pulaski County Government employees who’d been allowed to stay home will have to return to work Monday. The president of the board of commissioners, Kenny Becker, has decided to rescind the county’s temporary workforce reduction policy as of Sunday at 11:59 p.m., according to a post on the Pulaski County Indiana Government Facebook page. That’s more than a week earlier than previously announced. It also means that county employees deemed essential will no longer get hazard pay starting Monday.

Truck drivers continuing to make their deliveries during the COVID-19 pandemic were able to get some protective equipment, with some help from Indiana State Police. Master Trooper Jim Strong and Sgt. Dale Turner passed out 1,000 face masks Friday at the I-94 rest park in LaPorte County, with help from Darin Jones with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
