Income tax filing time means it’s also time to see where you stand in terms of need-based college financial aid for the 2015-16 academic year. Last year’s tax information can be used to estimate, and this year’s data can be plugged in after taxes are finished.

Financial Aid Deadline Looming for Indiana College Students
The clock is ticking for students in need of college financial aid next year. Monday is the deadline to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA form. Ancilla College Executive Director of Finance Mike Brown says it’s best to complete the form in order to keep options open.
“Everyone who is thinking about going to college next year, for most of the students starting college that will be August of 2014, but it could also be for students who won’t be starting until January of 2015, you have to fill out the FAFSA form to be eligible for any type of financial aid,” said Brown.
FAFSA Deadline Approaching; File ASAP
The FAFSA filing deadline is quickly approaching, but there is help available to take the first step toward getting state and federal aid for college. Mike Brown, executive director of finance at Ancilla College, told WKVI that the FAFSA deadline of March 10 means there is just over a week left to get the vital form filed – even a day late can result in no aid from the state.

Financial Aid Night Scheduled at NJ-SP Schools
A financial aid night is set for Monday, Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. CT in the North Judson-San Pierre High School library.
A college representative will discuss the financial aid process with parents and students. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, form will be reviewed. The application must be completed online this year.
The deadline for the federal processor to receive the FAFSA is March 10.

The FAFSA form can be a little intimidating and the representatives will provide help with every aspect of getting grants, scholarship and other financial resources for college.
Financial Aid Meeting Set for Jan. 29
Those needing information on how to pay for college are invited to attend a presentation at the Knox High School to gather that information.
The director of financial aid at Ancilla College, Kathy Mills, will be at the school on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. CT where she will assist parents with the FAFSA form as well as answer any questions related to financial aid.
This paying for college presentation is open to all students, parents or community members who are interested in attending. Senior students and their parents are highly encouraged to attend.
Cash for College Initiative Provides “Ask the Expert” Session for FAFSA Help
As part of Learn More Indiana’s annual Cash for College initiative, the organization will provide person-to-person help on Saturday to families and students rushing to make final corrections to their Free Application for Federal Student Aid forms. The financial aid form which qualifies students to receive financial aid from colleges, the state, the federal government and several other sources was due on March 10 but corrections are accepted until May 15, giving applicants time to correct any issues.
