Art education is getting a boost at Oregon-Davis. On Monday, the school board accepted a $300 grant for the Art Department from the Cheryl Lyn Welter Family Charitable Foundation, as well as a $350 grant from the Northern Indiana Community Foundation to help give kindergarten teachers resources for art projects, according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman.

A few upcoming field trips for North Judson-San Pierre students were graciously funded by donations. School board members accepted those funds when they met last Tuesday.

Oregon-Davis Receives Title IV Grant to Boost STEM Education
Oregon-Davis Schools’ STEM education efforts are getting a boost, thanks to a grant for $51,500. That’s according to Superintendent Dr. Don Harman. “We were one of 82 school districts in the State of Indiana that received a Title IV grant from the state,” says Superintendent Dr. Don Harman, “which will be utilized for professional development to increase our teachers’ instructional capacity in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.”
North Judson-San Pierre School Board Meets Tonight
The North Judson San-Pierre School Board will meet tonight at 7 p.m. in the school corporation’s administrative office.
Items up for discussion and action include a donation from Farm Bureau, the approval of certified handbook modifications and amendments to the non-certified handbook. The approval of the teachers’ master contract and approval of advertising the tax anticipation warrant are also on the agenda for tonight.
Board members will also receive some information about the Wonder Kind Project when they meet this evening.

Two Attend Farm Bureau National Women’s Leadership Conference
Two local members of the local Farm Bureau attended the 2013 National Women’s Leadership Conference in Las Vegas.
Judy Troike and Kate Yankauskas attended eight different workshops that focused on promoting, educating and engaging consumers on the value and impact of modern day agricultural practices.
Current statistics show that less than two percent of the population is actively engaged in agriculture, but the farmers are responsible for feeding people around the world. The job of Farm Bureau is to ensure the public that the agricultural community is committed to providing safe, affordable and sustainable food and fiber using responsible and ethical practices.
