Knox School Board Updates Firearms Policy
School board members in the area have been implementing a new policy that pertains to firearms on school property.
The Knox Community School Superintendent A.J. Gappa said the school board on Monday night approved a policy that reflects state law.
Oregon-Davis School Board Approves Firearms Policy
The Oregon Davis School Board members approved the revised firearms policy during Monday’s meeting.
As per state law, firearms may be in a school employee’s locked car out of the sight of the public, which Oregon Davis’s policy will reflect. School Superintendent Greg Briles said the only person or persons who would be allowed to have firearms in the buildings would be the schools resource officers or police officers.
West Central School Board has First Reading on Firearms Policy
The West Central School Board approved the first reading of a policy concerning the possession of firearms on school property.
Superintendent Don Street said the policy does not include that a faculty member could possess a firearm inside a building at any time.
Eastern Pulaski School Board to Tackle Several Topics
The Eastern Pulaski School Board will consider a policy concerning the possession firearms on school property.
In a previous meeting, the school board members discussed this because a change in Indiana law allowed concealed weapons with a permit to be in locked cars on school property. The change allowed school boards to consider whether weapons should be allowed within the schools. The policy wouldn’t apply to students, just a designated group of faculty members who have gone through proper training.
