Economy Auto Donates to Starke County Food Pantry

Economy-Auto-Food-DriveA successful Starke County business owner gives back to the Community Services of Starke County Food Pantry. Economy Auto in Knox collected food and donations from customers during the month of January. Owner George Mammarella recently presented Community Services of Starke County Executive Director Joan Haugh a check for $1,000 from the business along with $68 from a donation can at the business and several totes of food given by customers. Haugh says cash and nonperishable food donations to the Starke County Food Pantry are always welcome.

 

Economy Auto Sales Awarded Joe Krieper Indiana Quality Dealer of the Year Award

Economy Auto Sales of Knox received the prestigious Joe Krier Quality Dealer of the Year award for 2012 from the Indiana Independent Automobile Dealers Association, and owner George Mammarella said he was proud to receive it. The award was presented to Mammarella in September at Ironwood Golf Club in Fishers at the association’s 25th Anniversary Golf Tournament and Awards Day.

The Quality Dealer of the Year is chosen based on several attributes: the dealership must not only be consumer-oriented, but also have a record of good business decisions based on honesty and integrity. On top of that, the dealership must represent themselves as a civic leader within the community, and Economy Auto Sales not only meets those requirements, but embodies them.

Mammarella said he truly believes in helping the community, because without the community’s support, he would not be where he is today.

Starke County Food Bank Gets Donation from Economy Auto Sales

George Mammarella from Economy Auto Sales in Knox presented Community Services of Starke County Executive Director, Joan Haugh, with a donation of $1,200 for the Food Bank. As part of Economy Auto’s September customer appreciation month, George and Della Mammarella pledged a $30 donation for each vehicle financed during the month. 40 vehicles qualified for the donation.

Economy Auto Holds Customer Appreciation Day

The annual Economy Auto Sales Customer Appreciation Party was held at Wythogan Park yesterday. In one hour, over 400 hotdogs and 550 hamburgers were served.

There was fun for the kids and giveaways.

“The rain in the morning stopped long enough to have the picnic and it started sprinkling at the end,” said George Mammarella. “I don’t have a final count, but I think we had about 400 people.”
