GIS Data Contract Approved for Plymouth Trail Project

  
 

The Marshall County Commissioners have approved a measure to help the City of Plymouth move forward with the Greenway Trail.

City Attorney Sean Surrisi told the commissioners last week that the city is attempting to complete phase two of the grant-funded project. Officials with SEH Engineering need GIS data in order to continue with the design work.

“In order for them to prepare the plans, they would like to have some GIS data for that area,” explained Surrisi. “We’ve made a similar request before and we were able to put together a contract where we signed off and said we were guaranteeing that the contractors were just going to use the information for this project and not for any other commercial purposes.”

Marshall County Commissioners Approve USDA’s Use of GIS Data

  
 

Giddeon Nobbe from USDA requested the use of Marshall County’s GIS data.

He told the Marshall County Commissioners this week that the computer system has changed and using the GIS data will help the representatives look at boundaries for insurance purposes. Ownership of the right amounts of land would be able to be calculated easier. It would be helpful for crop information and insuring animals.

Marshall County Commissioners Approve GIS Data Request

Culver Town Manager, David Schoeff, went before the Marshall County Commissioners Monday morning to request the use of GIS data in the Town of Culver’s compilation of a comprehensive plan.

Houseal-Lavigne of Chicago is working with the town to develop the plan and the data needed includes parcel information. GIS data for the parcels inside town limits and the two-mile jurisdiction are requested along with some county data.
