Hamlet’s former town marshal is questioning some of the police department’s current operations. Frank Lonigro recently told the town council that he often sees Hamlet Police patrolling U.S. 30 outside the town limits, something that wasn’t allowed when he was with the department.

Hamlet Finalizing Yellowstone Trail Fest Preparations
The Town of Hamlet is getting ready for next weekend’s Yellowstone Trail Fest. During Wednesday’s town council meeting, Town Marshal Frank Lonigro, Jr. agreed to have the police department provide traffic control during the Rainbow Splash 5K, as it did last year. Law Enforcement Agencies form Starke County Major Crimes Unit
Law enforcement agencies throughout Starke County are joining forces to combat the local drug epidemic. During last night’s drug symposium hosted by the Knox Police Department and DCS, Prosecutor Nicholas Bourff announced a partnership that’s been two years in the planning. The Starke County Major Crimes Unit is an investigative task force made up of officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, the Knox Police Department and the Hamlet Police Department. Hamlet Council Talks Town Improvements
The improvement of the downtown area in Hamlet was discussed Wednesday night by the Town Board with business owner Lee Nagai.
Nagai is remodeling a downtown business building and is an advocate for the installation of conduit to serve new street lights in the area over the next several years. The lights may be financed by offering sponsorship to businesses and individuals. Continue reading
