An alternative learning environment for some West Central students will continue in 2017/2018.
The Indiana Department of Education recently visited the school corporation to observe the Trojan Opportunity Academy. The setting allows at-risk students to absorb coursework in an environment that fits their needs better than a traditional classroom.
The West Central School Board has decided to table further consideration of an Indiana Department of Education grant.
IDOE’s High Ability grants are distributed every year to the state’s school corporations. West Central has, in the past, used the monies for things like calculators or other classroom materials to help “high ability” students with the learning process.
