Knox Park Superintendent George Byer informed Park Board members about damage caused to about 40-feet of a fence in Wythogan Park.
During his report Thursday night, Byer explained that a few weeks ago, the fence around baseball diamond three sustained damage from an automobile.
“We had a hit-and-run about two weeks ago, during the last snow storm.” He said, “I happened to be there around 11 and everything was fine but I made another pass through around 12:30 and the damage was done.” Continue reading
Wanatah Hit and Run Victim Identified
Police have identified the woman killed in a suspected hit and run incident near Wanatah. The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office believes Shawn Ellyn Rybicki, 46, was struck and killed Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 421. Continue reading
LaPorte County Officials Investigating Fatal Wanatah Hit and Run
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help to locate a driver who struck and killed a woman on U.S. 421 near Wanatah. Officers responded to a report of a woman lying in a ditch on the east side of the highway just north of U.S. 30 around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. One Dead in North Judson Hit-and-Run
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after one person was pronounced dead near North Judson on Sunday morning.
Officers received the call around 1:30 Sunday morning and responded to the area of South Dawn Drive East. Several individuals were attempting to provide aid to the victim – who’s name is not being released at this time.
ATV Rider Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident
A New Buffalo, Mich. man is hospitalized in South Bend following a Saturday night hit-and-run accident. It happened around 10:30 near County Road 1000 North and 150 East in LaPorte County. Matthew Ramsey, 21, was driving his ATV on the roadway when he was struck by a pickup truck. Ramsey was thrown from the ATV and run over by the truck, according to officials with the DNR law enforcement division. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Indiana Department of Natural Resources 24-Hour Dispatch Center at 812-837-9536.
