Chuck Mellon was elected president, and Maurice Loehmer was elected vice president Monday, during the commissioners’ first meeting of 2021. Both were nominated by Commissioner Mike McClure, the only holdover from last year.

Pulaski County has declared a public health emergency. A resolution declaring the emergency was approved by the county commissioners Monday. Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer explained that it will make Pulaski County eligible for federal reimbursement for certain COVID-19-related expenses.

The Hamlet Town Council took action Wednesday to make sure employees can access the GIS map for the town’s utility infrastructure. Council members approved an agreement with WTH Technology. It will cost the town $500 a year to put the software on the street superintendent’s computer.

Pulaski County employees will get 14 holidays in 2020. The county commissioners approved the 2020 holiday schedule Monday. Employees will once again get the May and November election days off. Independence Day will be observed on July 3, since July 4 falls on a Saturday.

The Winamac Town Council Monday approved the salary ordinances for the years 2016 through 2018 for town employees, elected officials, and police department employees. Marshall County Commissioners Approve 2015 Schedules
The Marshall County Commissioners approved the 2015 pay schedule and the 2015 holiday schedule.
Auditor Penny Lukenbill explained that the year is unique in that there are 27 pays for the year and budgets had to be moved around to accommodate that extra expense. The pay schedule begins Jan. 2.
The holiday schedule was also approved in which the county offices will be closed on Jan. 1, Jan. 19, Apr. 3, May 5, May 25, July 3, Sept. 7, Nov. 3, Nov. 11, Nov 26, Nov. 27, Dec. 24, Dec. 25. Lukenbill stated that the county will follow the state’s holiday schedule.
