North Judson-San Pierre school officials are voicing their opposition to efforts to expand voucher programs, but stopped short of asking the school board to vote on a formal resolution. Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin recently told board members that the proposed legislation would direct public school dollars to private and charter schools that don’t have to meet the same accountability standards.

A bill that aims to reduce the number of townships in the state will soon be considered by the full Indiana House of Representatives. Under House Bill 1005, townships with a population of less than 1,200 would be required to merge with other townships by 2023. That would impact townships in Marshall, Starke, and Pulaski counties.
Indiana House Passes Dinosaur Building Law
The Indiana House unanimously passed House Bill 1005 on Tuesday. House Bill 1005 contains changes to what is commonly known as the “Dinosaur Building Law”.
Under existing law, a party that acquires an older industrial building that is at least 20 years old, that has been at least 75% vacant for at least two years and is at least 200,000 square feet, is entitled to tax credits for the rehabilitation made to such a building.
