A LaPorte County police chase reportedly ended with officers using a “chemical agent” to get the driver out of his pickup truck. Sheriff’s deputies say it began just before 1:30 Wednesday morning, when a woman reported that a white pickup truck was trying to force her vehicle off the roadway on I-94.

Truck drivers continuing to make their deliveries during the COVID-19 pandemic were able to get some protective equipment, with some help from Indiana State Police. Master Trooper Jim Strong and Sgt. Dale Turner passed out 1,000 face masks Friday at the I-94 rest park in LaPorte County, with help from Darin Jones with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

I-94 Bridge Repair Scheduled In LaPorte County
The east and westbound driving lanes of I-94 between the U.S. 20/35 interchange and mile marker 41 in LaPorte County will be closed for the next several months. Starting Friday, April 1st and continuing through the end of October, INDOT crews will rehabilitate the bridge that runs over the NICTD Railroad. Continue reading
Trooper Hit on I-94
An Indiana State Police Trooper found himself in bit of a jam this morning when he was struck by a vehicle after he stopped to assist a stranded motorist.
Police say that at approximately 1:16 a.m., Master Trooper Jeff Council had stopped behind a disabled vehicle on I-94 eastbound, roughly 2 ½ miles west of the Michigan City exit. Both vehicles were pulled completely onto the shoulder and Council’s cruiser had all emergency lights activated as he got out of his car to approach the disabled vehicle.
