Knox City Street Department Hoping to Start Spring Projects
The Knox Board of Public Works learned that the street department is working hard to start on spring projects.
Street Superintendent Jeff Borg told the board that the crews are attempting to work on alleys to smooth them out. Street sweeping started but had to be put on hold as temperatures did not allow for that activity to immediately continue. Equipment maintenance has been ongoing until the weather breaks. Borg notified the board that two new plows are needed for the trucks as they are getting to the point of deterioration. Crews keep repairing the plows, but they’re hanging on by a thread.
Knox Street Department Working on Potholes, Readying Equipment for Next Snow Event
Knox Street Superintendent Jeff Borg told those attending the Board of Public Works meeting Wednesday that work is being done to fill potholes.
Borg explained that road crews filled the most troublesome areas first and have been out filling others as much as possible. In the meantime, employees have been working to maintain vehicles. Borg noted that some plow components needed to be fixed and others completely replaced and he will be notifying the board on those efforts in a future meeting.
Knox Street Department Tackling Potholes
Drivers in the city of Knox may have noticed that the winter weather has created quite a few potholes on city streets, causing drivers to take evasive action to avoid them. Jeff Borg, street superintendent, told WKVI that his department has just recently gotten their patch material to get to work on the roads and they’ve already made some major progress since yesterday.
Knox Street Supt. Gives Update to Knox Board of Public Works
Knox Street Department Superintendent Jeff Borg told the Knox Board of Public Works last week that residents have been utilizing the compost pile and the recycling bin.
Borg stated that 54 truckloads of brush have been hauled from the area that sits across the street from the Knox City Police Department. He doesn’t know what has contributed in the influx of brush other than residents have been out cleaning yards. The rainy spring led to early and healthy growth of grass and brush this year.
Knox Street Dept. Plans to Patch Problematic Potholes
With all the freezing and thawing that’s been going on, the prominence of potholes throughout the area is on the rise. Knox Street Superintendent Jeff Borg told WKVI that the weather has been surprisingly gentle to the roads – that is, until these last few days. A few potholes have popped up in the area, and Borg said his crew is hoping to get those filled up soon.
