Pulaski County Democrats Appoint New Leaders
The Pulaski County Democratic Party has a new chair and vice-chair following the resignation of their longtime leader. Bill Reutebuch recently stepped down, citing out-of-town work schedules and responsibilities. Winamac Town Council Closes 2014, Plowman Honored for Years of Service
The Winamac Town Council members approved ordinances establishing salaries and wages for town employees in 2015.
In a special meeting yesterday, the council members approved salaries and wages for town officers and employees plus the officers of the Winamac Police Department. The ordinances passed by a vote of three to one. Tom Murray was the lone member who was against the approval of the ordinances.
Pulaski County Voters Elect Sheriff, Commissioner
In Pulaski County Republican Jeff Richwine is the sheriff-elect. He beat Democrat Paul Grandstaff in the contest to replace Mike Gayer, who is retiring due to term limits. Republican Bud Krohn Jr. beat Democrat John Plowman in the county commissioners race. He will replace incumbent Tracey Shorter, who did not seek reelection. Neither did Democrat Councilman Ron Powers. His daughter Linda Powers beat Republican Pam Chumley in that race. Continue reading
Winamac Municipal Utility rates to increase
Winamac Municipal Utility customers will soon notice a slight bump in their water and sewer bills. The town council approved a rate increase following a Monday public hearing. Town Council President John Plowman says rates will go up by about $1 per month on each side of the bill this year and again next year, for a total rate increase of about $4 for an average customer over the next two years. The rate increase was prompted by an Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission ruling.
