Marshall County Man Receives 10 Year Prison Sentence

A ten year sentence was handed down to a Marshall County man in Marshall County Superior Court 1 on Thursday.

Judge Robert O. Bowen accepted a plea agreement between the defendant and the state and sentenced David N. Weirick, 54 of Burr Oak, to 10 years on a charge of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, a Class B felony. Weirick admitted in court that he manufactured the drug in his garage located behind his home on State Road 17 in Burr Oak.

Argos Man Sentenced for Selling Heroin

An Argos man was sentenced in Marshall County Superior Court I on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Ralph Howard, 54, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state on charge of selling heroin to a confidential informant. He admitted in open court that he was involved in a sale of a quantity of heroin to a person later identified as a confidential informant at a residence in the 300 block of Walnut Street in Argos on Dec. 22, 2012.

Judge Robert O. Bowen sentenced Howard to 10 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with no part of the sentence to be suspended.

Howard had a prior conviction of Dealing in Methamphetamine in 2003.

Travis Chizum Found Guilty of Manufacturing Methamphetamine

 
 
A jury found Travis L. Chizum of Plymouth guilty on several methamphetamine counts during a trial in Marshall County Superior Court I this week.

Testimony took two days and the jury deliberated for one hour before they found Chizum guilty of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Precursors with the Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance.

LaPaz Woman Sentenced on Manufacturing Meth, Robbery Charges

  
 
A LaPaz woman was sentenced in Marshall County Superior Court I on charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Robbery.

Judge Robert O. Bowen approved a plea agreement between the prosecutor and the defense attorney for defendant Toni Cassandra Schutz, 27, who pleaded guilty in the agreement to the charges. On the Manufacturing Methamphetamine charge, Schutz was sentenced to 18 years in the Department of Corrections in which three years were suspended. On the robbery charge, Schutz was sentenced to six years. Continue reading

Grovertown Man Sentenced on Manufacturing Methamphetamine Charge

 
 
A Grovertown man was sentenced Wednesday in a hearing in Marshall Superior Court I.

Adam Wagers, 23, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to a charge of Manufacturing Methamphetamine, a Class B felony. Judge Robert O. Bowen sentenced Wagers to 14 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with four years suspended. In exchange for the plea of guilty, four other methamphetamine-related counts filed against him were dismissed.

Plymouth Man Sentenced on Dealing in Methamphetamine Charge

  
 
Marshall County Superior Court 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen sentenced a Plymouth man earlier this month for his role in assisting in the sale of methamphetamine to an undercover informant.

Shawn T. Speirs, 41, of Plymouth pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the state to a charge of Dealing in Methamphetamine. He was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections with two years suspended. Speirs will be placed on two years of reporting probation after his release from prison. He was also ordered to testify truthfully against any co-defendants.

Marshall County jury convicts methamphetamine defendant

A Marshall County man faces up to 30 years in prison after a jury there found him guilty of five felony counts after deliberating for about an hour. Marshall County Judge Robert O. Bowen set sentencing for Anthony Eugene Fields for March 21. He was found guilty of manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of precursors with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of precursors. The charges stem from evidence discovered during a home visit by officers from the Marshall County Probation Department and Indiana State Police.
