The female driver of a vehicle involved in a rollover wreck last night at the intersection of State Roads 8 and 39 was taken to IU Health Starke Hospital for treatment. Dispatchers at the Starke County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call around 9:30 last night. The caller advised the vehicle had rolled over and was submerged in a ditch. Officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office and Knox City Police Department were able to pull her from the vehicle. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The crash is still under investigation, and the woman’s name has not been released. There’s also no word yet on her condition. Members of the Knox Fire Department and Starke County Medics also responded.
Grovertown Fire Cause Remains Under Investigation
An investigator from the state fire marshal’s office will be in Starke County today to investigate the origin of a house fire in Grovertown. The Washington Township Fire Department received the call around 2:30 yesterday afternoon, according to Assistant Chief Dave Pearman. The house at 200 North and 900 West was fully engulfed when they arrived. Firefighters from Hamlet, Koontz Lake and Knox also assisted, and with their help the blaze was contained in about 30 minutes. Pearman says the owners were home when the fire started. No injuries were reported.
Head Start students treated and released following crash
The 15 Marshall-Starke Head Start students whose bus got hit by a truck this morning on the way to school have been released to their
parents. They were all taken to IU Health Starke Hospital to be checked out after bus 37 was hit by a truck as it was crossing Heaton Street at Lake Street by One Stop just before 8 a.m. Continue reading
Starke County Sheriff’s Department Investigates Fatal Accident
Starke County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to a one vehicle car accident Wednesday on 600 E. near 400 North in Hamlet. A red pickup truck was located in the ditch and was occupied by Don Paul, 74, of Grovertown. Paul was taken to IU Health Starke Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A medical condition is believed to have caused the accident. Assisting at the scene were the Hamlet and Knox Fire Departments.
One Person Dies in House Fire in Washington Township
One person has died in a house fire that occurred at 7315 E. 100 N. in Starke County. Washington Township Fire officials, along with the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s office, are investigating the fire that occurred at midnight.
