Knox city government employees will not get Election Day off in 2022. The city council Tuesday removed the primary and general election days from the 2022 holiday schedule, at the recommendation of Council Member Don Kring.

The Knox City Council will consider a resolution tonight that would allow CARES Act funding to be used to reimburse public safety payroll costs. Mayor Dennis Estok told council members last month that the city’s share of the federal funding was almost $115,000.

The board had called for the home’s demolition back in 2016 but later agreed to give the owner a chance to fix the issues. Board members will also get updates on 253 East Washington Street, 8 South Main Street, and 204 West Bender Street.

The years-long discussion on a house at 6 North Pearl Street continues this morning with a public hearing before the Knox Board of Works. The board had called for its demolition back in 2016 but later agreed to let the owner try to fix the structural issues.

The 2019 Holiday Schedule for Knox City employees that was approved by the Board of Works back in November will come before the City Council for final approval tonight. Members are also expected to set their meeting schedule for next year. Continue reading
