Annual Event Puts New Location on Display
An annual event will have a new atmosphere this weekend in Knox.
The Starke County Historical Society will be hosting its ice cream social – which takes place the first Sunday in July.
The event typically invites the public to view various exhibits and displays at the museum and find out more about the work being conducted. This year, however, the public is invited to tour the Historical Society’s new museum location.

WKVIdol Final Call!
Aspiring young singers throughout the Kankakee Valley have until the close of business hours tomorrow to enter the second annual WKVIdol competition. Starke County Jail Readies On Site Video Visits
The Starke County Jail is now accepting registration times for on site video visits.
According to information released by Sheriff Bill Dulin, the visits will take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Those interested in signing-up for a registration time can visit the website jailatm.com.
Ideas Taking Shape for Potential New Hospital
An exchange of ideas has led to the development of ideas for what could be a new hospital in Knox.
A committee of about 12 individuals, consisting of staff from IU Health Starke and their architects, has been putting their thoughts to paper for a future hospital. The committee presented their ideas on Friday to gathered staff.

Several Starke County charities are benefiting from grant money from the Starke United Fund. These type of grants are made possible through a partnership with Starke United and the Starke County Community Foundation. Starke County Offices Closed for Period Due to Staff Funeral
Starke County staff will take time early next week to attend the funeral services of a fellow employee.
57-year-old Elwin “Chris” Dalton passed away of a heart attack according to county officials. He worked as the County’s Sanitarian.

Knox Man Charged with Child Molestation
A 20-year-old Knox man faces a child molestation charge stemming from an alleged relationship with a 12-year-old girl who recently gave birth to his child. Knox Police Officers arrested Angel R. Delapaz on Wednesday after an extensive investigation. They were notified by the Indiana Department of Child Services last December that the child had been sexually involved with an adult male and was pregnant. Continue reading
Knox Water Department Replaces Obsolete Hydrants
Knox Water Department crews recently replaced a couple of fire hydrants that were part of the city’s original water system. Superintendent Todd Gardner says the new hydrants were installed on West Delaware Street at Pearl and Main Streets. The new hydrants have a six-inch flow capacity, compared to the four-inch of the previous ones. Water Superintendent Todd Gardner says the water flow capacity of the new ones has doubled as a result. Incredible Causes will Benefit from Spirit of Pulaski County Proceeds
The annual Spirit of Pulaski County, formerly known as Germanfest, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 8 this year at the Train Depot in downtown Winamac. During the event, the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a spirit ride and spirit walk in memory of Tina Kasten and all other domestic abuse victims. Knox Business Pays Off Loans to City and County
Knox Fertilizer now owns its 72,000 square foot building on 100 East. The company recently repaid the Starke County Economic Development Foundation and City of Knox the money they put up to build the structure. The company was previously located in the Knox Industrial Park but moved to a new location when Reagent Chemical’s White Flyer Targets division moved to Knox. Continue reading
Faulty Asphalt Delays Klockner Drive Completion
An asphalt problem has forced paving contractors to hit the brakes on finishing the road through the Knox Industrial Park. Last summer 300 East/Klockner Drive was widened to accommodate truck traffic. Contractors have been working for the past few months to restore driveways and lawns and finish paving. Continue reading
IU Health Starke Displaying New Hospital Designs on Friday
IU Health Starke Hospital will be putting plans on display for what they hope will one day be a new hospital.
On Friday, the culmination of work that’s been going on this week will be showcased at the hospital for the public to view. Officials with the hospital have been busy putting together a mock-up of a proposed new building, this week.
