The Town of LaCrosse has gotten a $1.5 million boost for its water utility project. The town is planning to start work on a new water plant next year. The estimated $4 million project will also include new water meters, upgraded hydrants and valves, and the replacement of more than 3,000 feet of water lines.

As the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum continues its efforts to resume excursions to LaCrosse, it’s asking the public for help covering its legal fees. Winds Wreak Havoc on Area Roadways
High winds made travel difficult for truckers yesterday, with multiple rollover accidents reported in the local area. U.S. 421 was closed for hours between State Roads 8 and 10 after an overturned semi was leaking diesel fuel, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. Continue reading
LaCrosse Grain Elevator Decisions in Holding Pattern
A grain storage company is still awaiting reports from several key agencies to make any decisions.
More than one month has passed since a Co-Alliance grain elevator – used for hog feed – exploded in LaCrosse. Flames took fewer than 30 minutes to extinguish, but four employees were injured, being treated for burn wounds. All had been released from the hospital by early May.

La Crosse Grain Elevator Explosion Injures Four
It didn’t take long for emergency responders to arrive to the scene of an explosion on Thursday morning in La Crosse.
The 911 Center in La Porte County received a call of an explosion just before 9:00 a.m. An Indiana State Trooper was in the area and heard the explosion before arriving on scene.
