Come out to Wythogan Park on August 29 for an event full of music, food and fun for everyone. WoodStarke is scheduled to commence at 10 am and run all day on that Saturday in August. Volunteers Needed for the Starke County Career Success Coalition 4-H Fair Booth
The 4-H fair is scheduled to start soon and the Starke County Career Success Coalition is looking for volunteers willing to help run their booth in the commercial building from 7:30 to 10 pm during fair week, July 13th through the 17th. The objective of the coalition is to provide easier access to higher education to local adults and recent graduates. North Judson K9 Officer Makes Drug Arrest
A Culver man and a Plymouth woman face drug charges after a Saturday traffic stop in downtown North Judson at the corner of Main and Luken Streets. North Judson Police K9 Gunner sniffed the vehicle and indicated the possible presence of narcotics, according to a police department news release. Continue reading

N.J.-S.P. School Board Reaffirms Support for Title 1 Program
The North Judson-San Pierre School Board this week reaffirmed support for the federal Title 1 program. It provides resources to schools with high percentages of students from low-income families to offer extra academic help. North Judson Mint Festival Starts Today!
The North Judson Mint Festival kicks off today with the opening ceremony commencing at 5 pm in Norwayne Field. Immediately following the opening ceremony, the winners of father and grandfather of the year will be announced. Tonight’s entertainment includes music by High Noon and Elwood Splinter Band from 5:30 until 11:00 pm.

EMA Director Worries About Effect of Rain on Crops
The continued rains have left many area farmers up a creek, so to speak. Starke County Emergency Management Agency Director Ted Bombagetti told the county commissioners last night many have sustained significant losses as a result of standing water. He adds it will be too late for them to replant by the time their fields dry out. Bombagetti has made a formal request for “saturated soil” assistance to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and is waiting for a response. Continue reading
