A Medaryville man who reportedly left the scene of a property damage accident faces drug charges after authorities caught up with him at a gas station there. The crash occurred on U.S. 421 at County Road 200 North in Pulaski County Monday night. Officers from the Medaryville Police Department and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office found 32-year-old Russell Kevin Risner a short time later at the Family Express Station. His speech was slurred, his balance was poor and he failed several field sobriety tests, according the arrest report. He consented to a portable breath test and a blood draw and was taken to Pulaski Memorial Hospital. While there, a sheriff’s deputy reportedly found a yellow pill in Risner’s inside coat pocket. Hospital staff advise he tested positive for the presence of an anti-anxiety medication and marijuana. Formal charges are pending.
Thieves Hit Medaryville Marathon Station
A burglary occurred at the Marathon Station in Medaryville on Sunday, June 5th.
The power had gone out in the store late Saturday and the store was forced to close. At approximately 1:30 a.m. ET, an employee drove around the store to check on it and all doors were secured. The store manager arrived at the business about four hours later and discovered the west door had been kicked open. The suspect(s) went into the cash register area and forced open a change box, but no money was reported missing. After a preliminary inventory check, it was found that seven to eight cartons of cigarettes were stolen, seven or eight 24 pack cases of beer were stolen along with an unknown amount of alcohol.
The police continue to investigate this incident. An Indiana State Police Crime Scene Technician was called to investigate the scene.
