Brad Keselowski Beats Odds, Sweeps at Las Vegas
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. gambled on fuel but Lady Luck wasn’t on his side. NASCAR’s most popular driver’s race car ran out of gas on the last lap of the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was Brad Keselowski who put the money on the table and came away with the win.
Keselowski won both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races this weekend in Las Vegas. Keselowski was the first driver to sweep both races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the same weekend since Jeff Burtondid it in 2000. Burton and Keselowski are the only two drivers to accomplish the feat.
Keselowski Powers to First Win of the Season
As if Brad Keselowski didn’t have a big enough challenge keeping Kyle Busch out of his rearview mirror, the battery in his car was losing a winning battle. Keselowski had shut off everything he could to save what battery power he had and whatever he did it worked. Keselowski had enough power drive his Discount Tire Ford for Team Penske to Victory Lane in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in the Boyd Gaming 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon.

Kurt Busch Will Run Both Indy and Charlotte Races on Same Day
Two months ago, he was only 70% sure he was going to run in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca Cola 600, but it was made 100% official today.
Kurt Busch will be running in both races on May 25. Busch will be racing for Andretti Autosport in the Indy 500 and then jump into his stock car that night to participate in the Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Stewart-Haas Racing.
Busch joins his boss Tony Stewart, plus John Andretti and Robby Gordon as the only drivers to compete in both races in the same day.
Tony Stewart last attempted the double in 2001 where he finished 6th in the Indy 500 and finished 3rd that night in the Coca Cola 600.
Kevin Harvick’s Car is “Freaky Fast” and Gets Win at Phoenix
Kevin Harvick had sponsor Jimmy John’s on his car this week and proved their slogan to be true. His car was “freaky fast” during The Profit on CNBC 500, Presented by Small Business Fueling America Sunday afternoon from Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona.
Harvick picked through the field after starting 13th in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race. By lap five, he was in the sixth position. On Lap 74, Harvick’s No. 4 passed Joey Logano’s No. 22, who had been the race leader throughout the first part of the race. Harvick didn’t look back after that.
Kyle Busch Strikes Again, Wins at PIR
It hadn’t rained in 70 days before Saturday’s race, but it was a wet mess in Avondale, Arizona by late afternoon. With only 32 laps to go in Saturday’s Nationwide race action at Phoenix International Raceway, rain entered the area and drowned the track with raindrops which caused the red flag to stop action during the Blue Jeans Go Green 200, presented by Cotton, the fabric of our lives.
Kyle Busch had just gotten back to the lead after he and Brad Keselowski sparred after a restart on lap 142 after the engine let go in Derrike Cope’s car that caused a caution. At that time, Busch had led all but 13 laps of the race at the time of the red flag.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. wins the Daytona 500
He won it 10 years ago and he’s won NASCAR’s Great American Race for the second time in his career. Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won Sunday’s Daytona 500 after leading the field to green following a late race caution which created a green-white-checkered finish.
It started out as an overcast afternoon at Daytona International Speedway, but by lap 38 the rain moved in and wouldn’t stop. Six hours and 22 minutes later, the field went back to green with cooler temperatures and three-wide racing for quite a few laps until different-sequenced pit stops thinned out the lanes of racing.
Regan Smith Wins Thriller in NASCAR Nationwide Series Opener at Daytona
“How about that for redemption from last year?”
That’s what Regan Smith exclaimed after he just beat Brad Keselowski to the finish line by thismuch in Saturday’s DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway.
Keselowski had been leading the outside line for a good portion of the last few laps of the race when he used some side drafting and moved to the lead of the race in the bottom groove after getting some “bump drafting” help from Trevor Bayne.
Kyle Busch Wins First NCWTS Race of the Season
Four feet was the distance between the winner and second place in the NextEra 250 at Daytona International Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS).
Timothy Peters had the lead going into the last four laps but it was a move by Kyle Busch at the last second that enabled him to get past Peters and win the race by .016 seconds!
There were two lines of racing throughout much of the contest with not much movement throughout the race. The top line didn’t work as well as the bottom groove as far as aerodynamics so racing sort of stalled as the laps ticked down.
