Starke County’s first major festival since the pandemic kicks off today. The North Judson Mint Festival runs tonight through Sunday. Festival President Donna Henry told WKVI’s Charlie Adams, “It was very difficult to make that decision last year, to cancel it, but we knew it was the right thing to do at the time, but we are just really overjoyed to be back.”

Summer events may be coming back after a year off due to the pandemic, but in order for that to happen, they’ll need some help. Knox Mayor Dennis Estok told the city council last week that things are lining up for the July 3 Family Fun Day, but they’re still trying to round up volunteers. “These events, it’s like starting all over,” he said. “You know, we’ve lost our continuity a little bit.”
