Last night’s North Judson-San Pierre School Board meeting reconvened in the high school cafeteria due to the size of the crowd.

The North Judson-San Pierre School Board last night deferred a request to voluntarily relinquish their appointed status to clear the way for the establishment of the first elected board in the corporation’s history. That happened after an hour’s worth of discussion and public comment before an audience of 150 or so people in the high school cafeteria. Continue reading

N.J.-S.P. Principals Outline Transition Plans

BluejayStudents finishing fifth grade at North Judson-San Pierre will be the oldest in the school for two consecutive years as part of the transition to a kindergarten through 6th grade elementary. Council to Consider N.J.-S.P. Appropriation Request

BluejayThe next procedural step in the North Judson-San Pierre High School’s bond refinancing will take place during tonight’s Starke County Council meeting. The board is taking advantage of $1.43 million in available bond capacity to pay in arrears $600,000 worth of utility bills from the past couple of years that were paid out of the general fund. The rest of the money will be used to upgrade the lighting system in the middle and high schools and rework the HVAC control systems in both buildings. N.J.-S.P. Wraps Up Superintendent Search

The North Judson-San Pierre School Board is prepared to offer the superintendent job to an administrator within the corporation. Board President Pat Goin confirmed during last night’s public hearing on the proposed contract that high school Principal Dr. Annette Zupin will be offered the job at next week’s regularly scheduled meeting. Public Hearing Tonight on N.J.-S.P. Superintendent Contract

NJ-SP School Board 2015-2016The North Judson-San Pierre School Board is ready to hire a full-time superintendent. Dr. Robert Boyd has been serving in an interim capacity since January. He replaced Lynn Johnson, who retired at the end of December. Boyd’s interim contract ends June 30th.

A public hearing is scheduled this evening at 6 at the corporation’s administration building to review the proposed superintendent contract. It carries a first-year salary of $99,700. It will increase to $102,000 for each of the next two years, with one-year extensions every year thereafter unless the board notifies the superintendent otherwise. That’s the same base salary Johnson was making. Continue reading

Public Hearing Scheduled to Review N.J.-S.P. Superintendent Contract

A public hearing is scheduled Monday, May 9 at 6 p.m. at the administration building to review the proposed contract for Lynn Johnson’s permanent replacement. She stepped down at the end of December. Dr. Robert Boyd has been serving in an interim capacity since January, with that appointment set to run out on June 30th. Continue reading

N.J.-S.P. School Board Approves Driver’s Education Offering

BluejayNorth Judson-San Pierre High School will offer driver’s education classes this summer on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $330 per student, with a $100 deposit payable to the school to reserve a spot. The class can accommodate up to 30 students. N.J.-S.P. School Board Approves Bond Issue

NJ-SP School Board 2015-2016The North Judson-San Pierre School Board last night took action to pay off existing debt and rebuild their rainy day fund in the midst of declining revenue from the state. They’re taking advantage of an available $1.43 million bond capacity to issue general obligation bonds without an increase to their annual debt service payment. Continue reading
