Fresh Produce Vouchers Available for Seniors
Free vouchers are now available to area residents 60 years of age and older to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.
The Northwest Indiana Community Action Agency is working with the Indiana State Health Department in hosting this year’s Senior’s Farmer’s Market Voucher Program. This program provides up to $20 in vouchers for seniors to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmer’s markets and food stands.
NWICA to Offer Food Voucher for Older Residents
The Northwest Indiana Community Action agency is hosting a Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program in this area on July 3.
The program provides a voucher up to $20 for individuals 60 years or older to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from participating local farmers markets and food stands.
Annual Health and Resource Fair Planned For Today
Pulaski County Human Services, Inc., Northwest Indiana Community Action Agency, and Pulaski Memorial Hospital are sponsoring the Annual Health and Resource Fair today from 9 a.m. to noon ET. Following the fair, a senior citizen picnic in the park is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m.
During the Health and Resource Fair at the Winamac Town Park Community Building, participants can receive free health screenings, information on housing, nutrition, services, finances, volunteering, health education, and employment, as well as in-home and long-term care options. Those are just a few of the topics that will be covered. Over 25 entities have reserved booth space to help address quality of life issues and door prizes will be given.
