Knowledge Gap Still Exists Regarding Affordable Care Act
The open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act has just more than two months remaining, and community organizers are saying the biggest obstacle for consumers is not the Healthcare.gov website but a lack of awareness about financial assistance.
Erin Knott, Michigan director for Enroll America, said many Hoosiers are well aware that “Care” is available under the ACA, but the “Affordable” part takes some convincing.
Walorski Calls for Permanent Delay of Obamacare Implementation
A local lawmaker is leading the call for President Obama to permanently delay implementation of the Affordable Care Act. U.S. Reps. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) and Rodney Davis (R-IL) led a letter signed by several House Republicans. It was sent following passage by the House of two bills to delay the employer and individual mandates in Obamacare for a year. Governor, Legislators and Medical Experts Don’t Agree on Obamacare
Governor Mike Pence is against expanding Medicaid to help cover some 400 thousand uninsured Hoosiers. He’s banking on federal government approval of the expansion of the already-existing Healthy Indiana Plan. Representative Ed Clere, chair of the Public Health Committee, amended Senate Bill 551 to require the Pence Administration to negotiate with the feds – not just leave it as an option.
Clere says some worry the federal government will back out of paying.
