A Plymouth native recently opened a new recycling and waste solutions business in the city, and he said things couldn’t be off to a more perfect start.

Gregory Frushour told WKVI he decided to open his business after a happenstance conversation with the founder and original designer of the recycling equipment Frushour’s business now employs. The conversation, he said, developed into swapping business pitches.

Fugitive William Newman in Custody

A fugitive who has been on the run after a high-speed police chase in Marshall County has been arrested. He was taken into custody after Marshall County officers learned he was at a home in Argos. Around 6:00 p.m. ET last night, police gained consent to enter the property and arrested William Newman. He was wanted on a Marshall County warrant and a felony drug warrant out of Fulton County. Plymouth Man Arrested Following Domestic Dispute

The Plymouth Police Department arrested a man after a domestic dispute.

Officers responded to a residence on Dora Lane on Sunday after Stella Hinman called in to report a physical altercation. Police responded to the scene and after an investigation, Mark A. Weaver of Plymouth was arrested on a preliminary charge of Battery Causing Bodily Injury. The case will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for further review.

Plymouth officers also investigated two theft incidents on Sunday and Monday. Amanda Bowen was arrested after she was caught shoplifting in Walmart. Brock Biddle was arrested in a separate incident of shoplifting at Walmart. They were both taken to the Marshall County Jail. Bowen was given a $3,000 bond.

Plymouth Woman Coping With Loss Through Helping Others

A Plymouth woman whose son was killed in a car accident last year has found a way to cope with her loss while helping others to get through one of the hardest things a parent can go through: the loss of a child. Deb Johnson’s son, 17-year-old Drew Shearin, was killed while driving home from work last year. No drugs or alcohol were involved, and his mother said he may have swerved to avoid an animal.

Vandalism Reported At Plymouth Speedway

A vandal went off-roading at the Plymouth Speedway this weekend, when police say someone broke through two separate sets of entry gates, entered the Speedway, and tore up parts of the property with a vehicle.

Police say multiple windows were shattered on one of the shacks located within the property, and consequently, the suspect vehicle may have front or rear damage from striking the gates.

Officials say the incident took place sometime over the weekend.

Plymouth Man Caught Manufacturing Meth, Arrested

A Plymouth man was arrested after police walked in on him allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine. On Dec. 6, Plymouth police officers and Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at a residence in the 7000 block of Rose Road as part of an investigation into a burglary and vehicle theft that had occurred at Stone Creek Homes on Markley Drive in Plymouth in September.

Plymouth Police Make Three Arrests For Theft

Three Plymouth residents were arrested this week on charges of Theft after they allegedly shoplifted from Walmart.

The first arrest took place on Sunday, when Charles Salach, 39 of Plymouth, was spotted stealing lithium batteries – a key ingredient in manufacturing methamphetamine – from the business. He was forcefully detained after attempting to flee Walmart Loss Prevention officials. Police quickly arrived on the scene and transported him to Marshall County Jail, where he was booked on charges of Theft as a Class D felony. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18, and is currently held on a $3000 bond.

Police made two more arrests the next day, when the Plymouth Police Department received a call around 4:10 p.m. from Walmart Loss Prevention officials who advised they had two female shoplifters in custody. Kasie Miller and Kristina Shelby of Plymouth were detained after allegedly stealing baby items from the store. The women were taken to Marshall County Jail on charges of Theft as a Class D felony.

Plymouth Man Arrested After Dumping Meth Lab in Dumpster

A Plymouth man was arrested on charges of Manufacturing Methamphetamine as a Class B felony after he allegedly dumped a smoking box in a dumpster.

The Plymouth Police Department received a call from a man who told police that he had witnessed a man drop a box that was expelling smoke into a dumpster near 314 Kingston Ave. Officers quickly arrived at the location and found the discarded items, which were identified as a methamphetamine lab.

Plymouth Woman Arrested For Criminal Trespass

Plymouth police arrested a 42-year-old woman after she refused to leave a Plymouth residence on Friday.

Police were called to 619 W. Garro St. in Plymouth in response to a report of domestic situation. When police arrived, they learned that a verbal argument had taken place between Jennifer Miller and her mother, who wanted Miller out of the home immediately. Officers helped to remove Miller from the residence, but it wasn’t long before things escalated.

Plymouth Business Announces Closure

Kabelin Ace Hardware announced last week that they will soon be closing their store in Plymouth. A statement released by the company stated that the store did well, but the big box store competition over the last several years has become greater than the family store could overcome.

Kabelin came in Plymouth in 1996 and has moved three different times within the city before they settled on their final location on Oak Road. Kabelin Vice President Matt Moore said last week that the store has been going through hard times since before it moved to Oak Road from North Kingston Road in 2010. He had high hopes that the new location would be an improvement, but he said the relocation did not meet their expectations.

Two Arrested For Theft In Plymouth

Plymouth police officers arrested two people in separate theft incidents Sunday afternoon.

Sharon Ream, 51 of Plymouth, was arrested after a restaurant manager complained to police that she was in the business, helped herself to a soda without paying, refused to leave and was smoking inside the facility. Ream was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on a preliminary charge of Theft, a Class D Felony.

Plymouth officers were later dispatched to Walmart after a man was allegedly caught shoplifting. Brandon Patrick, 21, of Plymouth was arrested on a preliminary charge of Theft. He was taken to the Marshall County Jail.

Plymouth Man Arrested On Battery Charges

A Plymouth man was arrested after allegedly battering his girlfriend.

Plymouth police were called to a residence in the 300 block of East Garro Street where the victim told police she had been battered. After an investigation, police found there was enough evidence to arrest the suspect, Kelton Washington.

Washington was arrested at the residence and taken to the Marshall County Jail. He was preliminary charges of Domestic Battery in the Presence of a Child and Interference with Reporting a Crime.

This case has been forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.

Two Locals Sentenced To Prison In U.S. District Court

Two area residents were sentenced in U.S. District Court this week.

Jason Buzzard, 34 of Plymouth, was sentenced to eight years in federal prison and four years of supervised release after pleading guilty to charges of Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine. This case was the result of an investigation of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Indiana State Police, the Plymouth Police Department and the MSOS.

Oscar Ruelas-Sandoval, 26 of LaPorte, was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in federal prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to charges of Distribution of Cocaine, Distribution of Marijuana and Possession of a Firearm in the Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime.

Thefts Under Investigation Near Plymouth

Detectives from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a theft incident in the Plymouth area.

James and Kathy Bottorff reported that unknown suspects entered their two unlocked cars parked at their residence and stole two digital trunking hand-held scanner, two GPS units, a DVD player with dual monitor and one back-up camera with a 2.5’ color LCD monitor.

Man Arrested after Cocaine is Found in His Vehicle

A man was arrested in Marshall County after cocaine was found in his vehicle.

On Saturday, a woman contacted an off-duty officer who said her boyfriend reportedly battered her. A battery report was taken and she was jailed on a preliminary charge of Public Intoxication. On Monday, she was released from the Marshall County Jail and she apparently called the same man who battered her to pick her up at the jail.

Plymouth’s Comprehensive Plan Coming Along

The city of Plymouth is continuing its efforts in creating a new comprehensive plan. The Plan Commission heard an update on the efforts at their meeting last week, when City Attorney Sean Surrisi and Mayor Mark Senter presented the commission with new information on the city’s plan for future development.

The Plan Commission received a summary on work from Ratio, the city’s consultant for their comprehensive plan.

Plymouth Police Make Two Arrests This Weekend

The Plymouth Police Department was busy over the Veterans Day weekend.

Eighteen-year-old Joshua M. Mehling of Plymouth was arrested late Saturday night after an officer conducted a traffic stop and he was found to be in possession of alcohol and a controlled substance. He was a passenger in the vehicle. He was arrested on preliminary charges of Minor in Possession of Alcohol, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Ricardo Soto, 43, of Plymouth, was arrested early Saturday morning after Plymouth police conducted an investigation in an alleged battery incident. Soto was arrested on preliminary charges of Domestic Battery and Failure to Identify.

Plymouth Man Arrested For Child Molestation

A Plymouth man was arrested early Friday morning on a charge of Child Molestation.

On Oct. 18, the Plymouth Police Department received a report from the Department of Child Services regarding a 15-year-old female who had become pregnant and had the baby when she was 13. An investigation was conducted and it was learned that she was a victim of child molestation.

A warrant was issued in this case for the arrest of 24-year-old Adam M. Macias on Nov. 8 and he was located and arrested on a charge of Child Molestation. He is lodged in the Marshall County Jail on $10,000 cash bond.
