Teenagers Escape from Detention Center
Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies and Plymouth Police Department officers are looking for two escapees from a secure detention center in southern Indiana.
According to Marshall County officials, Kody Whiteman and Adam Waggoner, both age 17, escaped the detention center in the early morning hours of Aug. 3 and reportedly stole a vehicle. Officers in Marshall County recovered the stolen vehicle in West Township on Aug. 5. On Aug. 6, deputies investigated two reports of theft where items were taken from two vehicles in the area where the stolen car was recovered.
Man Arrested on Child Molesting Charge
A Texas man who was visiting residents at a home in the 100 block of Franklin Street in Plymouth was arrested on a preliminary charge of child molesting.
Plymouth Police Department officers were called to the home on Friday afternoon after receiving a report that an 11-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted. After further investigation, including the questioning of the suspect, 67-year-old Jonas Olvera, Olvera was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on the charge of child molesting. Olvera was also wanted a warrant issued in 2009 in connection with another report of child molesting.
Man Died of Accidental Drowning
The body of a man was found in the Yellow River Thursday evening.
An autopsy to find the cause of death was conducted Friday. The preliminary cause of death is accidental drowning.
Kayakers notified the Plymouth Police Department on Thursday evening that they found a body in the Yellow River by Oakhill Avenue in Plymouth. The deceased man was recovered by the effort of officers from the Plymouth Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana Conservation officers, Plymouth Fire Department, and the Marshall County Coroner.
Lockdown Lifted at Plymouth Facilities
A pair of medical facilities in Marshall County were placed on lockdown this morning after reports of a threat to a staff member. According to our reporting partners at WNDU-TV, The Bowen Center and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center were secured as a precaution following an incident that occurred early this morning. That lockdown was lifted at 1:30 p.m.
Argos Man Sentenced on Meth Charge
An Argos man’s criminal case wrapped up in Marshall County Superior Court 1 after he was sentenced Thursday morning.
John Bobby, 49, pleaded guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a charge of possession of methamphetamine within a public housing complex. The terms of the agreement called for a ten year sentence in the Indiana Department of Corrections on the charge which Judge Robert O. Bowen accepted. Bobby was sentenced to that term with no part of the sentence suspended and he will be able to participate in purposeful incarceration while imprisoned.
Plymouth Man Arrested on Forgery, Credit Card Fraud and Theft Charges
A stolen credit card has landed a Plymouth man in the Marshall County Jail.
Plymouth police officers were notified by the victim that unauthorized transactions were occurring on the victim’s credit card on the night of March 25 and early on March 26. The four transactions were made at three different gas stations in Marshall County.
Industrial Accident Reported at Del Monte in Plymouth
Plymouth Police Department officers investigated an industrial accident at Del Monte in Plymouth that happened just after noon ET Friday.
A report of a man trapped between a railroad car and the building was made to police. The man had lost consciousness at the time of the report.
An official at the Plymouth Police Department indicated that not much more information would immediately be released. An industrial accident report is being put together and WKVI News expects to have more information when it is released next week.
Three Arrested on Meth Charges after Search Warrant Executed
Three people were arrested early Tuesday morning after a search warrant was executed at 725 Loon Court in Plymouth.
An investigation into methamphetamine related activity by the Plymouth Police Department and the Indiana State Police led to the warrant where officers reportedly found two active meth labs in the home along with drug paraphernalia.
Two Men Arrested Following Armed Altercation
An early morning altercation at a Plymouth residence last Friday sent two men to jail. Officers responding to a home in the 15000 block of Carriage Way just after 2 a.m. reportedly found Drew Flora, 24, of Plymouth, and Sean Benner, 23, of Culver at the home. While questioning the men, the officers reportedly discovered that the altercation involved a firearm. Benner is free on bond and faces a charge of battery resulting in bodily injury. Flora’s bond was set at $50,000 on charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal confinement with a deadly weapon and pointing a firearm.
Mishawaka Man Arrested on Theft Charge
A Mishawaka man was arrested by Marshall County police Wednesday on a theft charge.
An employee at Rent-A-Center in Plymouth reported to the Plymouth Police Department that Jeremy Spencer and his wife allegedly sold rented furniture on Craigslist.
Plymouth PD Investigating Restaurant Burglary
Plymouth Police Department detectives are investigating a burglary at the Symphony Family Restaurant.
Officers received word that on Friday, Nov. 15 at 12:26 a.m. that a burglary was taking place at the business at 1410 N. Michigan Street. The manager of the facility surprised the suspect when he entered the building. The suspect fled on foot from the restaurant and no vehicle was seen.
Knox Man Struck, Killed by Semi in Plymouth
An accident at U.S. 30 and Union Road in Marshall County at 2:30 a.m. Friday claimed the life of 29-year-old Christopher Lowder of Knox.
A police investigation found that Lowder walked into the westbound lanes on U.S. 30 and into the path of an oncoming semi driven by an Ohio man. Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger stated that Lowder was killed instantly. Toxicology results are pending and should be released sometime next week.
Two Arrested on Forgery Charges
Two Plymouth residents were arrested Sunday after a forgery investigation was launched.
On Friday, Sept. 20, officers at the Plymouth Police Department received a call regarding suspected counterfeit checks being used to make purchases at Murphy USA.
After three personal checks were examined, Plymouth police detectives determined that the checks were counterfeit.
Plymouth Man Arrested after Allegedly Battering a State Trooper
A Plymouth man was arrested Thursday night after he reportedly headbutted an Indiana State Trooper.
A trooper with the Indiana State Police Bremen Post conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on 6A Road near Michigan Road for several traffic violations. The trooper noticed the odor of alcohol and the passenger, 33-year-old Travis Lee Simpson, told the trooper that he had been drinking.
Two Arrested in Alleged Counterfeit Operation
Two Mishawaka residents were arrested by Plymouth officers on Wednesday afternoon in an alleged counterfeit operation.
Plymouth police received information that counterfeit checks were being manufactured and distributed at a motel in Plymouth. The suspects reportedly had been involved in counterfeiting checks in southern Michigan and in the northern Indiana area.
Plymouth Man Breaks New Meth Law
A Plymouth man has been arrested under one of Indiana’s newest laws in the fight against methamphetamine.
Jamie Howell, 42, was arrested on Thursday, July 25 after a traffic stop. A Plymouth Police Department officer pulled over a vehicle Howell was driving as the officer recognized him and knew his driver’s license was suspended. A search of the vehicle revealed that he was allegedly in the possession of methamphetamine, pseudoephedrine pills and marijuana.
Multiple Injuries Reported in Plymouth Crash
A wreck last night in front of the Tri-Way Drive-In Movie Theatre in the 4000 block of Michigan Rd. in Plymouth resulted in multiple injuries, according to police. The extend of the injuries is not known, according to our reporting partners at WNDU-TV. Dispatchers received the first 911 call just after 10 p.m.
Waterloo Man Arrested for Burglary, Theft
A Waterloo, Ind. man was arrested Friday in Plymouth after an alleged burglary incident.
A resident in the 200 block of Baker Street called Plymouth Police to report a burglary at his home. The victim told police that the suspect running north from the residence toward Centennial Park and he was chasing him. An officer located the suspect in Centennial Park who was identified as 57-year-old Jeffrey B. Lusch.
Plymouth Man Arrested After Pursuit With Infant in the Car
Plymouth police officers pursued a vehicle into Starke County Sunday night after the driver failed to stop with an infant in the car.
Anthony Porter, Jr., 27 of Plymouth, was driving west on Hoham Drive in Plymouth when the officer attempted to stop him. A pursuit ensued after Porter refused to stop. The officer pursued the vehicle traveled west on 6B Road in Starke County.
