Contested Races Make for Interesting Primary

 
 

Pulaski County is sporting a few contested races during today’s Primary Election, but one party has a few more.

Indiana is in the national spotlight for its role in nominating each party’s presidential candidate. Republicans Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich will square off in a dwindling number of races prior to the GOP convention. On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton is facing Bernie Sanders.

Election Board To Review Performance Following Primary

 
 

The Starke County Election Board will be convening for the first time since last week’s Knox Primary Municipal Election.

Tuesday was the first election Starke County Clerk Vicki Cooley. Few of the races were contested during the primary. Incumbent Mayor Rick Chambers was defeated handily by former Mayor Dennis Estok. Several other City Council seats were contested, largely on the Democratic side.

Incumbent Mayor Chambers Defeated in Primary

 
 

It took more forty minutes after polls closed for the ballots to arrive at the Starke County Courthouse on Tuesday evening.

The Knox Primary Municipal Election was taking place and saw a few races contested, largely among Democratic candidates. Eligible voters had ample opportunity to cast an early or absentee ballot leading up to the Primary Municipal Election, but the city’s four precincts all voted at the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center on Tuesday.

Today is Primary Voter Registration Deadline

  
 

Monday is the final day for those looking to vote in the municipal primary election to register.

Forms must be turned into the voter registration office by 4:00 p.m. or, at the very least, postmarked by today. Voters can register to cast their ballot online, in-person, or through the U.S. Postal Service. Registration can be completed through the local county election office or at any BMV office.
