The Pulaski County Election Board has finalized the results of last week’s primary. Clerk JoLynn Behny says that of the hundreds of mail-in ballots sent out, only two were returned after the deadline. She says a total of 35 ballots were rejected.

Pulaski County voters have narrowed down their list of candidates heading into November’s General Election. The tightest race of Tuesday’s primary was for county auditor. Incumbent Republican Laura Wheeler narrowly defeated challenger Tim Hoffa Jr. by a margin of 50.49-percent-to-49.51-percent or just 17 votes. Hoffa had led throughout the early returns, before Wheeler took the lead with the final vote center counted.

Starke County Election Board Establishes Training Dates for Poll Workers
Starke County Election Board members are in election preparation mode. Clerk Vicki Cooley said they discussed the training dates for poll workers when they met Wednesday morning.
Cooley said the training days will be held on Tuesday, May 1st and Thursday, May 3rd from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday, May 5th from 10 a.m. until noon. Continue reading
Jackie Walorski Comments on Primary Elections
As the Republican Presidential Primaries drag on, many Republicans are fearful it only plays into the Democrat’s hands. Second District GOP Congressional candidate, Jackie Walorski, was asked about the primaries.
“I don’t think it’s a good thing,” she said. “I don’t think it’s productive and I know there’s been opinions out there of Republicans who say let’s just continue to run this Primary, but I disagree. I think it’s a bad idea. I think we, as adults and conservatives, should come together and decide who in the world is going to lead this party. As these guys continue to cannibalize each other and as time keeps ticking, all they’re doing is allowing Barack Obama to pick and choose between issues he’s going to take them out with.”
