The Knox School Board accepted almost $8,000 in donations this week. Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart says $1,000 of that was from the VFW.

Knox High School Principal Responds to Prom Dress Code Criticism
A dress code for those attending the Knox High School prom has been drawing criticism from some students and community members. Among the eight guidelines listed for girls’ clothing, are the requirements “Formal Long Dresses,” and “No cleavage, no flesh touching flesh.” Meanwhile, the dress code for boys simply states, “Tuxedos/Suits.” Continue reading
Community Invited to N.J.-S.P. Grand March
North Judson-San Pierre High School students and their dates are putting the “prom” in promenade on Saturday. For the first time, the school is hosting a grand march in the high school gym from 6 until 7 p.m. The community is invited to come see the prom goers in their formal finery before they head off to the main event at Chesapeake Run Golf Course east of town.
La Porte County Stepping Up Patrols For Prom
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office and the La Porte County DUI Task Force has announced that it will increase enforcement and patrols around prom and post-prom sites this spring, with a goal of deterring alcohol use and eliminating alcohol-related crashes among high school prom attendees.
With proms starting Saturday, April 28, for Marquette, New Prairie, South Central, and Westville High Schools, and continuing through Saturday, June 2 when Michigan City High School will host their prom and post-prom. The DUI Taskforce will saturate the areas around each prom and post-prom site in an effort to deter potential alcohol and drug use, with zero-tolerance toward the consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages. Those who provide alcohol to minors will be targeted and jailed.
