Nearly one in three Hoosiers are now considered obese, giving the state the 10th highest adult obesity rate in the country. That’s according to the most recent State of Obesity report, issued this week by the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Starke County has moved up slightly in annual health rankings, but it’s still toward the bottom. Pulaski County is moving ahead when it comes to health rankings. According to the annual County Health Rankings released by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin’s Population Health Institute, Pulaski County now ranks 47th of Indiana’s 92 counties when it comes to health outcomes. The ten counties with the lowest ranking include Delaware, Lawrence, Sullivan, Orange, Jasper, Starke, Crawford, Blackford, Fayette and Scott.
Starke County ranked 91st out of 92 counties on a health report. The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation released the report that uses a formula to measure how healthy people are and how long they live in each county.
