Six Starke County organizations are getting a funding boost for upcoming events. The Starke County Convention and Visitors Commission says it’s awarded a total of $6,400 in its first round of quarterly grants.

Culver Beach Lodge is hosting a special “Silly Safaris” Presentation tomorrow, featuring animals from the North Pole. The free, all-ages program will start at 11 a.m. ET and last until noon.
According to the organization website, this specific program focuses on animals native to the Arctic Circle, one of the world’s harshest environments. The presentation will feature a reindeer and may also include another mammal, a bird, a frog, a reptile, and a few insects to display the variety of creatures that inhabit this area. Continue reading
Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum’s Pumpkin, Halloween Trains to Return in October
Special fall train excursions will be offered during the month of October at North Judson’s Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum. Pumpkin Trains will run the first three Saturdays in October. Passengers will enjoy a trip through the countryside to English Lake and back, before stopping at the museum’s pumpkin patch.
