Students at St. Peter Lutheran School Help Raise Funds for K9 Bullet-Proof Vest

Students at the St. Peter Lutheran School recently held a fundraiser to help purchase a new bullet-proof vest for the North Judson Police Department’s K9 Jimy.

At Monday evening’s Town Council meeting, Town Marshal Kelly Fisher shared that about $630 was raised through the school’s fundraiser. Marshal Fisher, K9 Handler Officer Rico Simpson and his trusty partner Jimy went to the school at the end of November in order to take part in the incentive event that was promised to students. Three People with Possible North Judson Ties Die in Michigan Car Crash

 

Three members of a family with ties to North Judson are dead, after a Sunday night car crash in Michigan. WILX-TV says an SUV driven by Jose Angel Aguilera, 43, crashed head-on into an elementary school in Lansing. Police say Aguilera, his front-seat passenger Gardenia Herrera, 36, and Herrera’s 11-year-old daughter have all died from their injuries.

Starke County Community Foundation Gives Generously to Local Organizations

 
 

A number of charitable organizations are on the receiving end of more than $40,000 in grants from the Starke County Community Foundation. The gifts are made possible through the foundation’s endowment fund, which is supported by gifts to the SCCF. The money is invested. Each year some of the interest goes back into the fund to help it grow, while some is given locally in the form of scholarships and grants. Continue reading

Voucher Program Informational Meeting Planned for North Judson Parents

School Choice Indiana representatives will be hosting an information session to inform North Judson parents and families of educational options for their children through the state’s school voucher program, tax credit scholarships, tax deductions, and other forms of school choice. The session will be held at St. Peter Lutheran School on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.
