New Filings for Municipal Election

  
 

The clerk’s offices in Starke County and Marshall County were busy tending to more candidates who wish to file for office for this year’s Municipal Election.

In Starke County, Republican Anthony Radkiewicz filed for Knox City Council District 4 while Democrat Tim Manns filed for Knox City Council District 4. Republican Wendy Hoppe filed for another term on the North Judson Town Council in Ward 2, and Democrat Tamara Brantley is seeking a seat on the Hamlet Town Council. Republican Charles Hasnerl is seeking another term as Knox City Court Judge.

Polls are Open for General Election

 
 

Today is Election Day! The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time.

You need to have a legal ID in order to cast your important vote at the polls. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles will be open during the time the polls are open. License branches will only process new, amended or replacement ID cards, and renewed, amended or replacement driver’s licenses, learner permits, and CDLs. Aside from disability placards, the branches will not perform any other BMV services today only.

Absentee Voting Picking up for General Election

 
 

Absentee voting is still available to those who will not be available to go to the polls on Election Day.

Marshall County has recorded a total of 353 of absentee votes so far while Pulaski County has had 147 absentee voters. The Starke County Clerk’s office reported 272 walk-in voters and 60 mail-in votes.

In Starke County, in-office absentee voting will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. CT in the second floor meeting room in the courthouse from now until Oct. 31. The same hours will apply for Saturday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 1. Evening voting hours are available on Tuesday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CT and Thursday, Oct. 23 and Thursday, Oct. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. CT.

Absentee Voting Turnout Strong

 
 

The first week of absentee voting saw quite a few voters filling out ballots for the General Election.

The Marshall County Clerk’s office had 129 voters while the Starke County Clerk’s office had 108 voters and the Pulaski County Clerk’s Office had 69 absentee walk-in voters.

In Starke County, in-office absentee voting will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. CT in the second floor meeting room in the courthouse from now until Oct. 31. The same hours will apply for Saturday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 1.

Voter Registration Deadline is Today

 
 

Today is the last day to register to vote for the Nov. 4 General Election.

Voter registration is available during the time the county clerk’s offices are open today. You must be registered by the end of the business day in order to vote in the November election.

You may go into your county clerk’s office today to review your current registration or to simply register. You will need to update your voter registration information if you have moved or if you’re a first time voter.

Voter Registration Ends Monday

  
 

The General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 4 and in order to cast your important vote you need to be properly registered.

Voter registration is open this week at all county clerk’s offices. The last day to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 6. You must be registered by the end of the business day on Oct. 6 in order to vote in the November election.

If you need to register to vote or have questions about your current registration, call the Starke County clerk’s office at (574) 772-9160, the Pulaski County clerk’s office at (574) 946-3313 or the Marshall County Clerk’s office at (574) 936-8922. Election and registration information can also be found on the state’s website.

Absentee voting in all three counties begins Tuesday, Oct. 7.
