Starke County Community Foundation Plans Over $100,000 in Grant Funding for Ancilla College

Ancilla College is getting a boost with its efforts to provide on-campus student housing. The Starke County Community Foundation has announced plans to provide a total of $105,000 in grant funding from its Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund over the next five years. That includes an initial grant of $25,000 for the college’s new dorm building. SCCF Preschool Fair Scheduled Tomorrow Evening

abc-blocksParents of preschool-age Starke County children can take advantage of a one-stop shop tomorrow night at the 3rd Annual Starke County Community Foundation Preschool Fair. Development Director Sarah Origer says the goal is to increase awareness of how important preschool is.

SCCF Encourages Parents to Consider Preschool

Research indicates development of fine motor skills is critical. Motor skills are the child’s ability to do any activity by using a muscle group. Fine motor skills are small movements of a child’s fingers, toes, wrists and eyes. Continue reading

Lilly Endowment Community Scholars Announced

 

Students from North Judson-San Pierre and Winamac Community high schools are recipients of the 2016 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. Kyle Collins was nominated by the Community Foundation of Pulaski County, while Nicholas Sierzputowski was the Starke County Community Foundation’s nominee. Each of them will receive a four-year, full tuition scholarship to the Indiana College of their choice, as well as a $900 yearly stipend for books and equipment. Swansons Receive SCCF Philanthropy Award

Hardesty Leadership in Philanthropy Award. The Swansons were involved in numerous organizations in the county, including the Community Foundation, where they helped create the Ancilla/SCILL Center Fund, as well as The Mat and Marilyn Swanson Family Fund. $500 Grant Awarded to Bella Vita

The local pregnancy resource center, Bella Vita, was graciously awarded a grant of $500 yesterday. Thursday afternoon representatives from the Starke County Community Foundation, Director of Development Sarah Origer and their intern Rachel Lenig as well as the Northern Indiana Community Foundation Executive Director Jay Albert presented the money to Bella Vita representatives, Center Director Sarah Dedloff and Executive Director Lorie Reading. SCCF Lilly Endowment Scholarship Application Available Online

 
 

Applications for the Starke County Community Foundation’s Lilly Endowment Scholarship are due next week. The application is available online at www.ncif.org and must be turned in by Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2015.

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program offers a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to one local high school senior who will start college in the fall of 2015. The recipient must intend to be a full-time student and pursue a baccalaureate degree at any accredited public or private Indiana college or university. Prospective applicants must currently live in Starke County and be high school seniors graduating by the end of June 2015 with a diploma from an accredited Indiana high school. Continue reading
