Starke County Election Board to Enforce Deadlines on Candidate Financial Statements

The Starke County Election Board is cracking down on candidates who don’t turn in their financial statements on time. “They have to close out their candidacy by preparing the forms according to the deadlines,” Election Board President Peg Brettin explained during last week’s meeting. “If they don’t, the way the law is set up, the county election boards throughout the State of Indiana can have a hearing for them, can bring them before the board, can assess them.”

Starke Poll Workers Urged to Attend Voting Machine Tests, Training Sessions

 
 

Starke County poll workers are encouraged to attend tomorrow’s vote machine testing if possible to familiarize themselves with the technology. Vendor MicroVote will test the electronic machines at 1 p.m. outside the clerk’s office at the Starke County Courthouse. Members of the public are also welcome to come see how the ballot will appear and how the machines work. Continue reading

Starke County Election Board Sets Absentee Dates, Times

 
 

In-person absentee voting in Starke County in advance of the May 3rd primary election will begin April 5th and continue through May 2nd.

Polls will be open at the Starke County Courthouse each Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until noon and from 1 until 4 p.m. Voters must bring a photo identification with them to cast ballots in the second floor meeting room. Continue reading

Starke County Election Board Finalizes Election Plans

 
 

Supporters of the North Judson-San Pierre School funding referendum have gathered the necessary signatures to ask the county to allow poll watchers at the precincts within the district. They will double check names of likely voters against voter registration lists to ensure supporters of the effort turn out to vote. The election board will review the signatures on the petitions to make sure they are all registered voters who live within the county before approving the request during a meeting next week. Starke County Election Board Finalizes Ballots

  
 

The ballots are set for the Nov. 3 General Elections in Starke County. Voters in the towns of North Judson and Hamlet will elect clerk-treasurers. In North Judson, Republican incumbent Donna Henry has drawn a challenge from Democrat Alicia (Amidei) Collins. North Judson voters will also choose between incumbent Republican Wendy Hoppe and Democrat Joan Haugh for the Ward 2 town council seat. Democrat Ward 1 incumbent Jane Ellen Felchuk and Republican Ward 3 candidate Nathan Bradley are both unopposed. Continue reading

Starke County Election Board to Finalize Ballots Today

 
 

Starke County Election Board members will finalize ballots for the November General Election when they meet today. Knox, North Judson and Hamlet will all have municipal elections on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Also voters who reside in Jackson, Wayne, California, and Railroad Townships will weigh in on the proposed North Judson-San Pierre Schools general fund referendum.
