The Starke County Commissioners met in a special session with the building corporation for the construction of the Starke County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center prior to the commissioner’s regularly scheduled meeting. Commissioner Kathy Norem explained the meeting was necessary in order to appoint a lessor representative to allow them to approve and pay claims.
Knox City Council to Meet Tonight
The Knox City Council will meet tonight to discuss a number of agenda items.
The water line easement for the new Starke County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center will be discussed. The city is putting in water lines that will extend from Henry Drive to the property on County Road 550 East.
Easement Paperwork for New Jail Water Lines Hits Snag
The Knox City Council discussed an easement agreement for the water project for the new Starke County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center. The city is putting in water lines that will extend to the property from Henry Drive.
City Attorney David Matsey explained that one of the owners of the property would like to strike a sentence in the agreement which states, “Provided further, that if Owner makes any use of the easement that increases the city operation and maintenance and or restoration costs, then the Owner shall pay for the increase in costs.”
