A longtime Starke County Extension Home Economist is the winner of the 2015 Henry F. Schricker Award. Named for the former governor and Starke County native, the award is given annually to a resident who embodies Shricker’s credo of service before self. Election Board to Consider Poll Watcher Request
The Starke County Election Board will consider a request for poll watchers during a brief meeting this evening. The committee formed to support the North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation’s general fund tax referendum has submitted a formal request to allow volunteers to keep an eye on each precinct. Area Historians Gather in Starke County
The Starke County Museum and county historian Ed Hasnerl recently hosted a roundtable meeting of county historians. Jeanette Rooney is the Assistant Director for local history services at the Indiana Historical society. She says each of Indiana’s 92 counties has an appointed volunteer historian as part of a program co-sponsored by the Indiana Historical Society and Indiana Historical Bureau. Continue reading
