Starke County Officials Slash Proposed Expenditures

starke-county-courthouseBudget constraints have forced the Starke County Council and Commissioners to cut back on proposed big ticket expenditures in the coming year. They met jointly Monday to look at items that can be purchased with money in the cumulative capital development fund. That list included a new ambulance for Starke County EMS, two new patrol cars for the sheriff’s office and three new server computers for the IT department. Continue reading

State Approves Drug Treatment Pilot Program at Starke County Jail

Starke County Justice CenterThe Starke County Jail will soon be home to the state’s first non-prison-based intensive drug treatment program. During a recent drug task force meeting, Gov. Mike Pence directed the Department of Correction to work with Starke County to adopt and pilot the Regional Therapeutic Communities (RTC) program. N.J.-S.P. Prepares to Close 2015 Books

NJ-SP School Board 2015-2016The agenda for tonight’s North Judson-San Pierre School Board meeting includes passage of the necessary resolution to move money around to close the books on the fiscal year budget. Superintendent Lynn Johnson previously said at least $1 million in cuts would be necessary to end the year in the black. The source of those cuts is unclear at this time. Continue reading

A North Judson native is among five new troopers being assigned to the Indiana State Police Lowell Post. Corey Adam recently graduated as part of the 75th class of the Indiana State Police Academy. He and four other probationary troopers are now starting their three months of field training alongside veteran officers at the Lowell Post.
