A driver who was killed in a crash last month in Miami County has been identified as a rural Kewanna woman. Indiana State Police say Candace Girton, 29, died on November 24, when the car she was driving crossed the center line on State Road 16 and crashed head-on into a car going the other way, before catching on fire.

Roadwork on U.S. 35 between Winamac and Royal Center could start as soon as Monday. Asphalt resurfacing will be taking place from Pulaski County Road 100 North to State Road 16, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. Crews will also complete a bridge deck overlay on the Tippecanoe River bridge.

Additional sections of State Road 39 will be closed today and tomorrow. Chip and seal work will have the road closed between State Road 10 and State Road 14, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation. That stretch is already closed to through traffic, due to a bridge replacement project.
