LaPorte Sheriff’s Deputies took a man into custody after a standoff where the subject was allegedly making suicidal threats.
According to information released by the department, the 31-year-old suspect became upset following a custody battle with his wife over their 2-year-old son. The mother was given custody of the child earlier in the day.

Report Ranks Indiana High in Youth Suicide Risk
A recently released report shows Indiana ranking with a relatively high suicide risk among young people.
The “Kids Count In Indiana 2015” Data Book says suicide has been the second-leading cause of death for residents between the ages of 15 and 24 in the Hoosier State. The report covers numerous topics, including health, population, and economic data.
